  Midway got this arcade-to-Jaguar port right, preserving Kitzrow's famous 'Boomshakalaka!' and 'He's on fire!' calls alongside the distinctive explosion and crash sound effects. You can still pick out the 'NBA Jam sound' from a crowded arcade today.

  The original was built on single matches. TE finally added a proper tournament ladder right onto the console you can play through from your couch, giving the game the structure home players desperately wanted.
